The Farmyard Party

The Farmyard Party, held every June on or around the weekend of the Summer Solstice, is a festival run by the East Yorkshire MAG (Motorcycle Action Group) for their members.

Having long since outgrown the original farmyard, the festival, now over 20 years old, has for the past few years been held at Duncombe Park in the Yorkshire village of Helmsley. The original riverside valley site had to be abandoned 3 years ago after a flash flood (see picture) and the event has now moved to higher ground adjoining Duncombe Park's stately home.

Over 10,000 bikers now attend the two day event, which features a main stage, blues tent, dance tent and a 100% Biker tent.

Pro Audio Systems has been associated with the event since the early "farmyard” days, catering for all the festival's sound requirements. The 2008 festival was the biggest yet, with Pro Audio Systems providing a sound crew of ten across the various venues.

The main stage was equipped with a Meyer Sound Milo array comprising 20 Milo elements, augmented by 12 700HP sub woofers arranged in 2 rows of 6 and aligned to provide directional cardioid bass coverage. Front of house console was a Yamaha M7CL, with a Midas Siena handling monitors.

The blues tent utilised PAS' proprietary 3-way system featuring cabinets manufactured by Logic System, loaded with DAS drivers and powered by Lab Gruppen FP amplifiers. The console was, for the first time, a Yamaha LS9, the digital desk saving valuable space in what is always a very popular and crowded tent.

As ever, the Great British weather threatened to spoil things, but nothing is going to get in the way of 10,000 bikers having a good time!
