Pro Audio Systems Helps Celebrate Bradford’s Asian Culture
One of the largest Asian festivals in Europe, the Bradford Mela, takes place in the city’s Peel Park in June, with visitor numbers reaching up to 150,000 over the two days. As in previous years Pro Audio Systems were closely involved, providing the audio infrastructure for two of the stages, including the main outdoor area (the Mango Stage) with space for 5000-6000 people. The music choice was very eclectic, with everything from bangra and Asian sacred music to Western indie and rock on site.This venue presented a particular challenge as Peel Park is located within residential areas and so strict sound pressure level limits had to be observed. PAS technical staff thus created a compact, highly directional system using Meyer Sound loudspeakers and control equipment which delivered ample full-frequency sound to the audience but kept off-site levels well within specified limits. Real time remote control of the system was provided by sophisticated wireless controllers, allowing technicians to move freely around the area, making adjustments as necessary.
